A Black women-led creative events studio where culture is the foundation, community is the mission, and every gathering is an act of care. We are strategists, storytellers, and producers built for the organizations that show up for their people every single day.
At Kynfolk Collective, we believe community-rooted nonprofits, faith communities, and grassroots organizations deserve more than a well-run agenda. They deserve rooms that feel like home. Gatherings that carry history. Events built with the same excellence, care, and cultural fluency as the communities they serve.
We don't just plan events. We hold space for your vision, your story, and the kind of gathering your people will talk about long after the lights go down.
The Experience
How We Got Here.
In 2018, our founder turned a passion into a purpose. She launched Elev8ted Events with one clear intention to create gatherings that were authentic, intentional, and left people feeling fed, valued, and moved. Her first event, "This Is Us," was a safe space for Black women in business seeking real community, not just a room, but a reckoning. Backed by the Port Covington Impact Team, it was a success. And it was only the beginning.
She went on to serve as Director of Events for the Black Church Food Security Network, where she deepened her love for community organizing, nonprofit culture, and the kind of cultural awareness that only comes from doing the work from the inside out. When she stepped away from that role, she came back to her own work with clarity. She rebranded, and Kynfolk Collective was born. Not a departure, but an evolution. A re-emphasis of purpose.
Kynfolk because kin shows up. Because folk take care of their own. Because the work has always been about people.
The name is new. The roots run deep.
Our Values.
Culture First.
Culture isn't a theme we apply at the end, it's the blueprint we start with. Every event we design is rooted in the history, aesthetics, and lived experience of the people it's made for. We don't decorate culture. We build from it.
Joy Is Non-Negotiable.
We see joy as a revolutionary act. In a world that asks so much of community-rooted organizations, we believe every gathering deserves to feel like a celebration, not just a function. We plan for delight. We protect space for laughter, beauty, and belonging. Always.
Equity in Access.
Grassroots organizations shouldn't have to settle for less because they operate with less. We are working toward a world where every community-rooted team has access to the same level of strategy, creative direction, and event infrastructure as major institutions. That equity of access is not aspirational for us, it's the work.
Intentional Execution.
We move with strategy and soul, never just speed. Every detail is considered. Every timeline is built with care. Every decision points back to the people in the room. We are not in the business of checking boxes. We are in the business of making things matter.
Our Founder.
Linneal Denise
Linneal Smith is the Founder and CEO of Kynfolk Collective, a Black women-led, culture-centered events studio. A big‑picture dreamer with a builder’s mindset, she’s known for turning a team’s ideas into a grounded plan, a realistic budget, and a room that actually exists.
Linneal stepped into the event space with a simple intention: to create gatherings that feel welcoming, familiar, and rooted in culture and joy. She sees every event as a revolutionary act of care, an opportunity to center stories, celebrate cultural aesthetics, and make joy non‑negotiable. Her tenacity and fearless spirit have helped shape spaces where community, culture, and possibility meet.
Rooted in both corporate and community work, Linneal pairs vision with meticulous execution. She is deeply organized, systems-minded, and highly collaborative.
At Kynfolk, she leads strategy, story, and structure so that community-rooted and grassroots teams don’t have to choose between dreaming big and executing well. Every gathering is designed to be beautiful, well-run, and deeply rooted in the people it serves, and every dream is given the care, planning, and infrastructure it needs to come to life.
